Top 5 Dinner Spots in Amsterdam
In this post you will find a run down of my top 5 favourite places to eat out in Amsterdam.
But before that, a quick side note, I've chosen not to mention any chain restaurants that can be found in the UK and/or other countries around Europe (e.g. wagamama, vapianos etc) simply so you can try something new when you come to visit.
1. Foodhallen: This is probably my favourite place to eat out. The concept is an indoor market with high end street food varying from gyozas to tacos to bitterballen (a traditional dutch food) It has a total of around 20 different restaurants, so there really is something for everyone. As well as this, on Fridays & Saturdays they have a DJ playing till late & with a delicious Gin Bar amongst all the food it makes for the perfect chill night out.
2. De Japanner: Imagine your favourite Japanese food crossed with a tapas style of eating and thats De Japanner. A cosy intimate dinner spot with an Amsterdam atmosphere & delicious food. It's slightly more expensive than the others mentioned on this list, but is definitely worth saving for.
3. De Bajes: This is one of the first street art bars in Amsterdam, you can read more about the artists who have helped decorate the walls here. They have both a lunch and dinner menu (I recommend dinner), and offer a complete variety of different dishes ranging from fish, to salad, to tacos to catfish and clams. Oh and did I mention former Michelin-star Chef Niels van Halen can be found in De Bajes kitchen. Open till 1am on weekdays and 3am during weekends with a DJ until the early hours to get your weekend started!
4. De Pizzabakkers- Pizza & Prosecco: looking for the perfectly oven baked pizza with a thin crispy base and fresh ingredients to top it off? Look no further. Not only do they serve amazing pizza but also think that it should be paired with prosecco. Given, it's not very Dutch but it definitely does give you the Italy through and through feel.
5. Van Mechlen Stadscafe: If you're looking for somewhere more casual & authentic then this will be your go to. This restaurant is named after a city in Belgium (where one of my best friends lives) & has an array of different dishes to choose from, varying from fish to traditional soups and meat dishes. It's interior and atmosphere differentiates it from its potential competitors and promises a special evening.
