Brunching in Amsterdam

Brunch is hands down my favourite meal (I know I'm not alone here), so when it comes to sussing out the best spots I had it down within the first couple of months. Here's a rundown of my findings so far (apologies in advance, this is going to be a lengthy post):

1. Pluk

Situated in the Nine Streets, a quaint boutiquey picturesque district of Amsterdam, Pluk seamlessly fits in. With its open plan, light decor its the perfect place to sip on a fresh smoothie & devour their yummy acai bowls. Plus they also have a shop full of cute little nick nacks that also serve as great souvenirs.

2. Benjis

Close to UvA (University of Amsterdam) & serving all-day breakfast Benjis makes for the perfect pre lecture boost or post night out cure. Serving anything from eggs & avo, granola-yoghurt bowls (the Dutch love their yoghurt, probably why they're so tall) to sandwiches and salads, it really does have everything.

3. TEDS

TEDS offers up all the usuals you would expect (eggs, pancakes etc) to find when looking for a brunch spot. However, if you're looking to celebrate, look no further. TEDS offers you with the option for a champagne breakfast (no special occasion necessary). Yes please.

This is the perfect place if you're looking to brunch with a large group of friends, C&C spans three floors, with comfy sofas/bean bags and of course tables so there's enough space for everyone. It has a very beach-shack, wholesome feel about it & located in the Pijp it makes for the perfect pit stop after stopping by the country's largest open air market only minutes away.

5. Mook

Who says pancakes are only for February? Mook serves the most delicious pancakes with pretty much anything you can imagine on them, varying from the classic fruit and maple syrup combo to avocado, hummus and peppers.

If you're looking for a hearty breakfast that will (for sure) fill you up for the rest of the day, then look no further. Offering the Dutch equivalent of a full English & rice/egg bowls there's no way you're leaving B&R feeling peckish any time soon.

I've added Lebkov & Sons to my brunch list not really because of the food (although it does have some great sandwiches) but because of their coffee. If you're looking for a light snack and a delicious caffeine boost, L&S should be your go-to.

I'm still not sure whether The Breakfast Club here is in anyway related to the chain restaurant in the UK (it seems to have a more cozy/feel at home vibe in the NL) but nonetheless serves delicious food. This is another all day breakfast spot to fill your scrambled egg needs after a night of dancing.

This is the one restaurant where the food simply looks way too good to eat. Every single dish includes avocado, from avo burgers to avo pancakes. Being the first of its kind in Europe it is a definite must if you're an avocado lover (plus they have really cute take out coffee cups, see slideshow below).

Another favourite of mine, Bagels and Beans. It's such a simple concept but somehow works so well. They offer all possible combinations under the sun: hummus, honey, cheese, avocado to name but a few; as well as this you are able to customise the type of bagel bread you would like. y.u.m

hope this helps & enjoy x
