Day Trip from Amsterdam : Giethoorn

Giethoorn: frequently named 'Venice of the North', with no cars allowed so your only mode of transport is by boat, foot or bike. Often awarded the accolade of one of the most beautiful places in the Netherlands & given it's only around two hours from Amsterdam (including bus ride form the closest train station to Giethoorn) there's really no reason not to visit!

I went on this trip as a Valentine's Day surprise with my boyfriend Camilo (Venice on a student budget am I right). I would recommend taking a boat tour (usually last around one hour) to get to know the village through a locals eyes. Other than that, there's really not much else to do other than enjoy each others company and nature's beauty.
